PETROL PUMP ADVERTISING MEDIA PLANNING AND BUYING ACROSS THE UK
Your message in their hand
Petrol pump advertising is a subtle and simple way to reach potential customers. Anyone who owns a vehicle that requires traditional fuel will need to go to a petrol station on a regular basis. When there, it will take the customer about 1 minute to fill their car, and any advertising campaign on the pumps will mean that they literally have your message in their hands.
This long dwell time, along with a strong creative and simple call to action, means you can very quickly get across your message and establish your brand.
Many Shell petrol stations across the country also have digital screen opportunities by the petrol pumps. A campaign on both the pumps and digital screens offer creative way to specifically target customers whilst they are stood filling their car up.
At CG Advertising we can help you navigate through the complexities and choose the most effective locations for your business.
Frequently Asked Questions:
A - Although the cost ‘per pump’ will be standard, as always, it depends. The main factor being how many petrol pumps are booked for your campaign.
The larger the petrol station, the more pumps are available and the more it will cost for that campaign. However, the more petrol pumps you have, will mean more people see your message.
A - These are booked on a fortnightly basis. The length of each campaign is based on your specific requirements, but we recommend you do look at a minimum of 4 weeks per campaign but ideally look at a longer period to maximise the visibility of your message.
A - No, not all petrol stations have the facility to take advertising. This is particularly true for the smaller stations in more rural areas. Very simply, the larger the conurbation, or the more passing traffic a petrol station has, the more likely you are able to book a campaign.
High Impact
Having your advertising message in the hands of a potential client is a very powerful way to reach a new audience and remind an existing customer of your services.
Longevity of Message
Although campaigns run in multiples of 2 weeks, it is more cost-effective to start with a 4 week campaign. A campaign using multiple pumps in several different petrol station locations, plus with the above average dwell time, means your message will be remembered.
Can not miss it
The petrol pump station a vehicle goes to will have multiple individual fuel pumps, all with your poster on. This will be seen as they drive up to the pump, choose the right fuel and then fill their vehicle. Use a visually creative design and it will be impossible to ignore.

The number of touch points for your advertising means any strong message will be remembered. If the message is remembered and is relevant, it more likely to be acted on.
