Bus Advertising in Doncaster
Reasons why you should choose Bus Advertising
Bus advertising delivers a high impact, large format, advertising message to people during their normal daily routine. It provides an important reminder of a sales message in the geographic area the business operates in.
Longevity of Message
Bus campaigns run in multiples of 4 weeks. The price for the campaign is comparable, and in many cases less than those for a shorter campaign on other local media options.
Cannot Miss It!
The average ‘dwell time’ for a bus rear is 48 seconds! This is one of the longest of any media. If you can see the advert, then so can thousands of others....many of whom will be your potential customers!
A visually creative design using a simple call to action will not only increase awareness of your product and service, it will also drive traffic to your website, creating more enquiries.
Bus advertising in Doncaster is a fantastic way for any regional or local business to advertise.
It allows them to get an advertising message to their target market quickly, effectively and in a very cost-efficient manner.
Buses are something most people take for granted but they play an important part in everyday life. Not only for the people who use them on a daily or regular basis, but also for drivers. Commuters tend to do the same journey at the same time, every day. As such, they see a bus on just about every journey they take as buses work to a specific time-table. This means you can use the bus as a time-keeper for your journey.
This is why Bus Advertising in Doncaster works!
If you see a bus on a regular basis, then so will thousands of other people every day. Therefore, if you advertise on a bus, thousands of people will see your message every day.
Get the message right, and it will be remembered and acted upon!
For the back of a bus, the average ‘dwell time’ (that is the time you are actually looking at the advert) is 48 seconds. This is one of the longest of any media, both traditional and on-line. The side of a bus is 13 seconds. This is still very good in the modern world where people’s attention span is getting shorter and shorter.
The next time you are driving behind a bus, take a look at the advert on the back or side. The advert itself may not be relevant to you, but it will be to someone….and that is the point! Remember, you are selling your product and service to other people, not yourself.

Where you can advertise
Below is a list of places you can advertise a bus.
Bus rear - the typical advert size is 2 foot high x 5 foot wide. The average dwell time is 48 seconds. It typically targets drivers.
Mega-rear - this is where either a single or double deck has the whole back covered with a vinyl advert. The average dwell time is again 48 seconds.
Street-liner - either side of a single deck with the typical advert size being 2 foot high x 13 foot wide. The average dwell time is 13 seconds. This targets both drivers and pedestrians.
Super-side – the same as a street-liner but on a double deck bus. This is on the passenger side of the bus only.
T-side - on the driver’s side of a double deck only. This is typically used when an advertiser has a strong visual creative. It is a firm favourite of film production companies to promote an upcoming film. The average dwell time is again 13 seconds.
Passenger panels - adverts running on either side of the inside of the bus. This is very much targeting bus passengers.
Campaign lengths are based on multiples of 4 weeks.
For an effective campaign you need to use multiple buses to maximise visibility. The number of buses will be dictated by the nature of your campaign. If your campaign is time-sensitive, you would look at a shorter duration of 4 weeks and have a larger number of buses to give you maximum impact. In Doncaster for a 4 week campaign, I would recommend you look at a minimum of 25 buses.
However, if your message is more generic and not time-sensitive, having multiples of 4 weeks (8, 12 etc) is better for the effectiveness of the campaign. When you run a longer campaign, you can use fewer buses. Time and repetition will provide a cumulative effect making people believe there are more buses than there actually are. In this situation, for Sheffield, I would look at 18 to 25 buses per campaign.
One thing to take into account over a longer duration would be a refresh of the advert poster. This will ensure the message looks a good as it can throughout the campaign.
The only exception to the above, would be for Mega Rear advertising. Due to the cost of getting the vinyl printed and fitted, I would recommend that you look at atleast a 6 month campaign though it would work out to be more cost-effective over 12 months. For the Doncaster area, a minimum of 5 buses would give you a good campaign.

SOME OF OUR HAPPY CLIENTS
First Direct Bank recruitment campaign
By using a mix of large format billboards and internal and external bus advertising, their message is highly visible to commuters. These commuters may be the preferred candidates who will then directly see the message.
North Lincolnshire Council
Running under the banner of ‘Proud to Care’, the strong messaging used was designed to directly target local people who want to help others in their local community.
This campaign gave good coverage across the City with the 20 buses giving 1,600,000 impacts at an average frequency of 4.78 per 4 week period. These are very good achievements for this type of advertising campaign.
